Where are your bracelets produced?
We are proud to say that our bracelets are NOT FACTORY MADE like most other bracelet companies. All of our 100% recycled bracelets are handmade in Ghana, Africa by local bead and jewelry makers. Not only is every bracelet handmade, but each unique bead is individually made by hand. Bead the Change believes in supporting fair trade labor and the Ghanian people who make the beads.
What are the bracelets made out of?
The beads are made from recycled glass bottles. The cord is made out of recycled plastic water bottles, also known as rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate). In the end you have an environmentally friendly bracelet made completely out of 100% recycled materials.
What kind of packaging do you use to ship the bracelets?
We package each bracelet in a 100% organic cotton drawstring bag. This bag is then placed into a 100% recycled, reusable poly mailer. We strongly encourage you to re-use it again before recycling it.
Where did the name "Bead the Change" come from?
It comes from the Mahatma Gandhi quote: "Be The Change You Wish To See In The World". We are trying to change the world by protecting the planet one bracelet at a time.
Will you be adding any new causes or bracelet colors in the future?
Absolutely. We are passionate environmentalists at heart. We stay abreast of all current environmental organizations and causes. If we feel that there is a certain cause or organization that needs our attention and support, we will bring it to Bead the Change. And if there is a certain cause you'd like us to support, get in touch to let us know. Also we do have plans on introducing necklaces in the near future so stay tuned.
What is the meaning behind your logo?
At the heart of Bead the Change is the belief that by working together, we can change the world. The various colorful pieces swirling toward the center of the circle represent people coming together to make positive change. The center of the circle, where all of the pieces unite, is the brightest part of the logo. The impulse behind creating bracelets supporting environmental causes is the drive to create a brighter future for the planet. Likewise, the swirling pieces are reminiscent of how our glass beads are made: by heating and rotating each glass bead in the kiln.
Why don’t you include any promotional materials in the package?
We are a company that believes in sustainability and zero waste. While a thank you or cause card would be a nice gesture, in our opinion it’s simply a waste of paper and resources. Therefore, we prefer to use email for these types of things. SAVE THE TREES :)
Why don't the bracelets have a charm or emblem on them?
There was no way for us to do this while maintaining a 100% recycled bracelet. And having a charity bracelet completely made out of 100% recycled materials was very important to us. We try to use recycled materials for everything whenever possible. This includes not only our products, but also our packaging. In the future, if we are able to find a recycled material to use for a charm we will consider using it.
Are the bracelets waterproof?
Yes the bracelets are 100% waterproof.
How durable are the bracelets and beads?
The recycled glass beads are very hard and durable. And the rPET cord material is also very strong and durable. We've never had any bracelets or beads break from wearing them.
What percentage from each bracelet is donated to the organizations?

Can I order a different size?
No, our recycled bracelets only come in one adjustable size.
Can I return my bracelet?
Unfortunately we do not accept returns. However, we do offer a 30 day warranty on all Bead the Change bracelets.
Do you offer international shipping?
Yes we do. At checkout, you will see a list of all available shipping options. Please note that customers are responsible for any customs fees/taxes when shipped internationally.
Where do the bracelets ship from?
We are located in North County San Diego and all of our bracelets ship from Carlsbad, California.
How long does shipping take?
For domestic orders shipped via USPS First Class, please allow up to 3 - 7 business days. If you would like a quicker shipping option, we have other options available at checkout. For international orders we will ship via FedEx International. Please see checkout for delivery options and times.
